Champion Solargem Kushiel-Joscelin

Joscelin is our beautiful brown spotted boy. He was born 23 March 2006 and came to us in July. We thank Paul and Frances Wilson at Solargem Bengals for letting us welcome Joscelin into our lives.

 

From the first photo we saw of him, we knew there was lots of potential in this little man and we still cannot wait to see the babies he will give us. From the time we first saw him at the age of only 4 weeks, we knew he was that special one-in-a-million kitten. Even at that young age, he had an abundance of tri-coloured, arrow-shaped spots with  russet tones running along his spine. His base coat was, and still is, a deep golden colour that fades to a delectable cream at his belly. His multitude of spots are outlined in rich sable and warm coffee colours, and highlighted with the same auburn and russet tones he had as a newborn baby. We have high hopes for this young fellow!!

Joscelin attended his first TICA show this August in Blackpool as a barely age-qualified kitten (in fact, he was only one week older than the minimum age requirement!). We entered him into this show just to get him accommodated to travelling and being shown and he did better than we ever expected or hoped he would: Joscelin placed third in one ring and fifth in three other rings!!!

 

Joscelin made his second TICA appearance on 14 October 2006 at The Bengal Cat Club of Great Britain’s Oct-O-Pussy Show. And man oh man did he leave an impression! He competed as a kitten for the final time and completely shocked us with the results! As the show was hosted by the largest UK Bengal club, we knew the competition would be fierce and we were not disappointed. There were a total of 32 Bengal kittens on the day, 14 of which, including Jos, were brown spots. He placed 2nd Best of Colour in one All Breed ring, 3rd Best of Colour in a Specialty Ring and finalled 9th place out of 39 short hair kittens, 3rd Best of Colour in the Bengal Kitten Congress, and finalled 7th place out of 32 Bengal kittens!!!! What a champ!!!

 

Champ indeed!!!! Joscelin appeared for the very first time as an adult at the SpoTICAt Show in Leicester on 9 & 10 December and he made Champion status without batting an eye by being named 1st Best of Colour, 1st Best of Division, 1st Best of Breed and finalled as 4th Best Short Hair Cat out of 67 total cats of all breeds!! Just to put the icing on the cake, he did the very same on day two against a new group of cats- 1st Best of Colour, 1st Best of Division, 1st Best of Breed and finally 7th Best Cat out of 54 total cats of all breeds!!!! He also placed 5th Best of Colour in one other ring and in the Male Congress. He’s now chasing only a handful of points and one more final to become a Grand Champion. That’s our boy!!!!!!!
