Melisande, whom we’ve already nicknamed “Meli” is going to be our second queen when she’s all grown up. She was born 2 July 2006, so is really still just a baby. As you can see from the pictures here, she is already a stunning girl! Her pelt feels like warm velvet to the touch and her colours are delectable! Her base colouring is a very pale, warm vanilla and is distinctly contrasted by swirls of dark, rich sable and a hint (so far, at least!!) of auburn that is all liberally kissed with shimmery gold and copper glitter.  As she’s only 3-and-a-bit months old, she’s still developing so we’re not-so-patiently waiting to see the end product! Right now, her eyes are a brilliant copper with traces of emerald surrounding her pupils and they are rimmed by mascara of the same rich sable found in her marbling.  Meli makes us catch our breath every time! We could not be happier to welcome Meli into our home and lives!!

We’ve started training Meli on a lead and brought her down to the beach over the weekend (see the pic on this page of her in the grass...). She did so well that she confirmed what we had already pretty much decided: We’re going to start Meli’s showing experience off with a BANG! and we’ve entered her in the SpoTICAt show in Leicester on 8 & 9 December 2006. It’s a two day show, so a very heady experience indeed! We have the utmost faith in this brilliant little girl and are very excited to see just what she can do!

Once Meli settles in a little more (and we have a little time on our hands) we’ll get some more photos of Melisande taken and will get her Photo Gallery up and running.

Meanwhile, click here for Meli’s pedigree...

Meli is having a well-deserved rest and will resume her mothering duties in a couple of months time!
